The most significant gain in doing research on "Visual narrative
and User Interaction of Dynamic Fonts in Short Videos" is that I
came to a certain level of grasping "the combination of
theoretical studies and practical application." At first I
thought the dynamic font was only a way to "make video fancy",
but through the literature review, I realized that there was a
gap with the adaptation of existing research for short-video
with a "3-second attention window" ---the external font
narrative theory for long-video
(e.g.interopRequireDefault(Smith, 2020) ---cannot be directly
used for emergent contexts such as short videos. It really hit
home for me that “ there is a lot of research value in ‘solving
practical problems’”.
The process of designing the questionnaire also taught me
"precise questioning". For instance, some of the early questions
were just too general (like "Do you like dynamic fonts?") and
difficult to quantitatively analyze. The questions are in turn
reduced even further to become "Which animation makes the
material easier?" referring to other relevant research studies
that are similar. and “What font would make this video
shareable?”, and third, the 107 pieces of data gathered could be
a good basis for critiquing "about.png" (scheme type and theme)
and "interaction priority". This shift"from the fuzzy to the
clearly defined"reminded me of the role of research methods in
relation to the trustworthiness of findings.
